Pony Pasture is a spot along the James River in Richmond, VA. The rhythm of the trees caught my attention.

A stripe of green shoreline cuts across this work on paper just below the center of the work with the blue river underneath. A pale blue sky rests above, interrupted by pale yellow greens in the branches. Four brown trees with clear, rhythmic branch patterns sit toward the bottom and front of the painting. Matching trunk shadows lean left to lower right and the bottom of the page. Textural lines and scratches are added with a palette knife.
